I am directed by the Postmaster General to forward to
you herewith a copy of a letter from Mr. L. A. M. Johnston, the Postmaster General of Hong Kong, respecting the payment of his allowance from the Imperial Post Office during his
special leave of absence in this Country.
Mr. Johnston states that he arrived in this Country on
the 21st of May, that the Colonial Government has arranged for him to draw the full allowance (100 per annum) up to the
22nd of June next, that he has already drawn the amount que
to him up to the 31st of March last, anu that, after the 22na of June, he will be entitled to one half of the allowance,
the other half being payable to Mr. S. 5. C. Ross, the
Acting Postmaster General.
The Postmaster General would be much obliged if you
would acquaint him whether the dates given are correct and whether the Secretary of State aesires the arrangement s
